WAVES is a referral service only. WAVES partners with your family veterinarian to greatly increase the potential for providing critical diagnostic information for your pet, thereby allowing the best possible management of your pet's care.If you are interested in scheduling an appointment for an ultrasound, endoscopy or internal medicine consult for your pet, please contact your veterinarian directly. Ask your veterinarian to contact us to schedule an appointment at their hospital.
Advanced diagnostics, such as ultrasound and endoscopy, have become the standard of care in veterinary medicine. Below is more information about the services we can provide your pet on your veterinarian's behalf:
Ultrasound examination is a non-invasive, painless diagnostic procedure that can provide important information about your pet's health. It involves the use of high frequency sound waves traveling through tissues of the body and being reflected by different tissue interfaces to produce ultrasound images. These images can be very helpful in diagnosing diseases and conditions impacting your pet's health. Ultrasound studies are always more informative when combined with history, physical examination findings, radiographs (X-rays), blood and urine test results, and other diagnostic tests your veterinarian may recommend based on your pet's symptoms.
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that offers an invaluable method for examining body cavities and hollow organs and collecting diagnostic information from your pet in a way that otherwise might require some form of surgery or more invasive and stressful procedure. Endoscopy can be both diagnostic and therapeutic. It allows direct and magnified visualization of lesions, foreign bodies, tumors, calculi, strictures, etc. and allows for collection of tissue and fluid samples for laboratory analysis. Some foreign bodies can be retrieved without having to go to surgery. The advantages of endoscopy are many.
